FLASHBACK
Flashback is a series of film photographs taken at the start of Hervé de Mestier’s career. His taste for fashion photography will be decisive after several months spent alongside the famous photographer Guy Bourdin, a source of inspiration. We are in the 70s in Paris and fashion is in full swing. Through his meetings, he landed his first orders for Vogue magazine, which opened the doors to a very closed environment. Flashback explores commercial image and its place in art. Each photograph reflects, through his eye, the sensitivity of the artist. This series pays homage to film and the black and white work of the time. His contact sheets and marker modifications reveal the photographer's graphic vision. Today, Hervé de Mestier works with digital. He gives us his past work as a retrospective of a time when his subjects were light, nudity playful, a time where light embellished, where retouching did not exist, a time of a certain elegance and a certain joy of living, the time for a creative and passionate life.
